Twisted Party How to Host a Private Lobby
Share a code, pick a room size, start the wheel
A private lobby is the sane way to play Twisted Party with people you already know. Public queues exist, but launch-week nights go smoother when one person creates a room, copies the invite code, and pastes it into the official Discord voice channel or a group chat. This page covers that code flow, the 2–4 player mode versus a full eight, and the vote that still is not in the game.
Create the room and share the code
From the main menu, create a lobby and mark it private. The game shows a short invite code on the lobby screen. There is no advertised Steam overlay invite that replaces typing that code. Friends choose join, enter the code, and appear in the list. Anyone who has the code can walk in, so do not paste it under a public Steam screenshot.
Start only when names you expect are visible. If someone is stuck on a black screen during match initialization, stop and send them to Fix Connection Issues. Recreating the lobby after a dead init is faster than waiting for a frozen load to forgive you.
2–4 player mode versus eight
Vampire Squid delayed launch from 20 August 2026 to 25 August to add a 2–4 player mode and extra skins. That mode is still a free-for-all. It is not a teammate playlist. It exists so three friends on a weeknight are not forced to hunt five strangers.
A 2–4 room is more comfortable: fewer spectators, less capsule exclusion, faster restarts. A full eight is louder and more likely to pick only a subset for mid-round blackjack, russian roulette, or pick-a-player — reviewers have described three of five actually playing. The Party Planner treats 4–6 as the usual sweet spot if you can fill it.
You still cannot pad a 2–4 night with bots. Empty seats stay empty. If you want chaos, invite more humans.
No custom mini-game vote yet
Players keep asking to vote the wheel onto Blindshot, skip Music Hero, or force Car Mode. That custom vote is not in the shipped game. The host does not get a playlist editor. The five wheel games — Blindshot, Dynamite, Braincrab, Music Hero, Bumper Car — arrive as the game deals them. Mid-round extras sit in the voting capsule.
If your group hates Music Hero, the honest advice is to laugh through it, not to hunt a hidden host toggle. Mention the request on Discord if you want Vampire Squid to see another vote-for-games post. Do not tell new hosts they missed a settings tab that does not exist.
Host habits that save the night
Confirm Windows 10 Vulkan or Apple Silicon macOS 15 before you schedule — system requirements are short on purpose. Tell people Car Mode waits on a push and that a disconnect during that wait used to freeze the match; the 22 July 2026 playtest patch is supposed to interrupt that wait. If a winner of the previous mini-game leaves before the next begins, that used to crash; the same notes claimed a fix. Still, if the lobby dies after a podium, recreate rather than sitting in a ghost room.
Use How to Play as the one link you drop with the code. Use How to Win only after everyone has seen the wheel once. Support email is mike.raw915@gmail.com if a code flow is actually broken rather than a friend typing it wrong.
Hosting is not a power fantasy. You are the person who pastes the code, picks a human count the group can fill, and refuses to promise a mini-game picker the store never shipped.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do friends join my lobby?
Create a private room, copy the invite code from the lobby screen, and have them enter it from Join. There is no advertised replacement for typing the code.
Is the 2–4 player mode a teammate mode?
No. It is the same last-one-standing rules with a smaller room, added during the delay to 25 August 2026.
Can the host vote which mini-games appear?
Not yet. Players have asked for a custom vote. The shipped game still deals the five wheel games itself.
